« on: June 09, 2018, 10:37:37 am »
Saw on the back page that local team  Bradstow Albion won the Kent Reliance Sunday Premier Cup.  Quite a few famous names on display in that game :)

Shane Suter,(was always impressed with him),Danny Wisker,Luke Wheatley and Matty Adams to name but a few! ;D

Found the video to that game(played at Maidstones' ground)

Interesting comment from the gaffer in today's paper.
Wants to sign two players (minimum) but won't splash the cash! (I thought we had an increased budget to look forward to,this year!)
Replacing Alfie, for example, will be a hard act to follow and I believe that the club should be bold to pay that bit extra to entice someone that special to fill the gap left by Alfies' absence. Even at this level, players seem to want "silly money" They won't want to travel here for nowt. This makes me think that those he's looking at could be "local" to the area. We don't want to end up with other teams players, who are out of favour,or someone who's played in the SCEFL,for example, and will be out of their depth, playing Bostik League footy.

" We have to sell the project and the model"
Just how are we going to do that!? The ground's looking rather tired and last year's playing record(or the year before) isn't  exactly something to be proud of. After all,we couldn't say that our aim is that we're going to be in the play offs this coming season, because with the team we had,we couldn't achieve that!

As the saying goes."You have to speculate  to accumulate "

keep hearing the club is short of money. Still no news on the guy to bring in the extra money to the club!!!!

'' The ground's looking rather tired...''
We have painted around the turnstiles, supporters club, outside of the outside of the toilets, painting the rusty goal posts parts. The spot between the home and away area at the covered area has been concreted so wheelchairs have complete access around the ground. Playing area has been re-seeded etc. Plus many other little jobs. Ladies inside toilet is going to be redone. Plus many more things. Hope it is to your satisfaction.   Buy plenty of jackpots tickets to we can do more ;) ;)

Firstly, don't get me wrong Bill, I'm not knocking the volunteers that do all those jobs in the close season. Lets face it,if they weren't around, the ground would be in afar worse state. What worrys me is the state of the terracing behind both goals, the steps leading to the tea hut(that's an accident in waiting) and the state of the fencing by the top end of the ground and down by the side of the car park. :(

If I'm correct, aren't they the old benches out of the stand(judging by the numbers on them)? I would have thought a coat of creosote or paint (just to cover the numbers up) would have helped with the image of the ground. The bottom corner of the ground(on the car park side),with a piece of fencing doesn't help the cause much either. :-[
If these are some of the "many other little jobs",then I take it back.

What alarmed me as well was your opening sentence. No money and no news on the guy to bring the money in! :o
Season's approaching pretty fast!

No one would or should knock the good people who spend many hours improving Southwood.  Its a secret how much the club got for Alfie is anything :o  This season, who knows, need to improve the defence.

I think the defence isn't that bad actually, although I think that sadly,Luke has seen better days.
Unfortunately, due to the injuries he's suffered,he's not the player he was but at least we've got some if the young 'uns coming up from the U23s that will fill his place.
It's all right having a decent defence but as I said earlier,it's going to be hard to fill Alfies' boots.

Why the club have not revealed how much we got for him is a mystery to me. I would be miffed, mind you,if I found out that they didnt get anything for him! If we did get some money for him, then spend it on a half decent forward. Goals win games ,after all.
Will be keeping my eyes peeled looking for any further news.

I've not seen a better striker than Alfie in Bostic South, might get someone in after the big boys have had their pick perhaps.

Knowing our luck, after the Big boys have had their pick,we'll be left with the crumbs or some money grabber that didn't get his own  way ::)
